What is AFAS Software?
AFAS Software is a Dutch family-owned company, founded in 1996 and based in Leusden, Netherlands. It builds integrated cloud-based ERP software that automates business processes — financials, HR and payroll — for organisations across many sectors.
More than 14,000 organisations run on AFAS, and the company processes payroll for around 3.5 million people every month. AFAS invests heavily in research and development and ships a single standard product with no custom code.

What is the AFAS team like?
AFAS has around 740 employees. More than 150 people work on the software itself, with 70+ developers spread across 10 teams. It is a profitable, family-owned business with a strong, long-term culture rather than a venture-backed startup.
Work-Life Balance
Since 1 January 2025 AFAS has closed its office on Fridays, and in November 2025 the four-day week was made permanent after a successful trial. All employees work 32 hours across four days on full pay, with Friday treated as a development day.
