Job Description
Senior Staff Engineer role is accountable for architecting, building, and operating large-scale distributed backend and platform work and for full-stack delivery (Java/Spring plus Angular or React where the product requires it) that advances global Mappers and DataHub integrations, in partnership with the KL DataHub team. The work supports global stakeholders, including North America. Near-term outcomes include contributing to more data sources and self-service with Brazil as the lead region for a global capability. The person sets the bar for testing (unit, integration, acceptance automation) and deployment (CI/CD, safe releases, pipeline discipline); provides technical leadership; mentors engineers; leads architecture and code reviews; and strengthens inner-source contributions upstream. Co-development with Brazil (Credit Decisioning) applies when the program allocates shared capacity.
- Own end-to-end architecture and delivery for complex services and platform work, decompose problems into clear designs, and land changes safely in production.
- Lead reliability and operations: troubleshoot production issues, drive postmortems, and implement durable fixes; improve observability and service-level objectives.
- Provide technical leadership through design and code reviews, raise engineering standards, and influence roadmap and technical strategy with the Engineering Manager and stakeholders.
- Mentor mid-level and junior engineers on distributed systems, testing, cloud-native practice, and pipeline quality gates.
- Align with global DataHub owners and KL DataHub on inner-source contributions; reduce duplication and deliver reviewable upstream changes.
- Apply secure-by-design patterns and engage security early on sensitive changes; remediate Veracode or Checkmarx and Sonar findings with discipline.
- Champion full-stack outcomes (Angular or React with Java services), acceptance automation, and deployment hygiene so global partners receive reliable releases.
Qualifications
- Must-have: Java, Spring Boot, microservices, distributed-systems fundamentals; full-stack: production-credible Angular or React (TypeScript, components, API consumption) alongside backend; system design, performance, reliability; AWS; Kubernetes/EKS (or ECS); testing (unit, integration, acceptance automation) and deployment (CI/CD, pipelines, promotions, rollback awareness); OpenAPI; Jenkins; SonarQube; Veracode or Checkmarx (or approved equivalent); Kafka-oriented or similar data patterns as roadmap requires; draw.io (or equivalent); security awareness; strong CS foundations; AI-native mindset per policy.
- Mandatory AI toolchain (this role): Cursor (or equivalent), Claude (or enterprise-approved model), MCP where applicable, and agentic engineering modeling best practice for the squad.
- Nice-to have: IaC and advanced AWS tuning; advanced peripheral AI or automation beyond the mandatory baseline.
