Job Description

The QA Engineering Specialist position owns the quality operating model for the structure, with a mandate to institutionalize the Quality Maturity Model (QMM), make quality enforceable in the flow through quality gates in CI/CD (including the power to block deployments), and ensure safe reuse of APIs (building blocks) from the Platform team by stream-aligned squads.

What changes in the system (QMM + Gates + Building Blocks)

QMM defines baseline, maturity levels, and a roadmap per squad.

Quality gates transform quality standards into automatic controls in the pipeline, reducing variation and regression risk (with authority to block releases when minimum criteria are not met).

Platform building blocks now have quality guaranteed by contract, compatibility, and non-regression, preventing multiple consumers from inheriting fragility.

Qualifications

What we are looking for in you:

  • Leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Quality Maturity Model (QMM)
  • Development and Implementation of Quality Control Models:
  • Develop and implement quality control models and tools.
  • Focus on adopting continuous improvement policies and techniques.
  • Test Planning and Execution:
  • Plan test strategies.
  • Develop test plans.
  • Create test scenarios.
  • Execute functional, performance, regression, and other tests.
  • Automated Testing Tools and Frameworks:
  • Proven experience in testing and quality of IT solutions.
  • Rest assured, Cucumber, Cypress, JMeter, and Bruno for end-to-end (E2E) testing of web applications.
  • CI/CD Practices: GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or Jenkins: Knowledge of continuous integration and delivery, configuring pipelines that include automated testing stages.

Your main deliverables will be:

  • QMM (maturity): define baseline, build roadmap, and lead QMM adoption across squads, with objective checkpoints and evolution by risk.
  • Quality gates (decision rights): design, implement, and operate gates in CI/CD, with clear minimum criteria, incremental evolution, and authority to block deployment when gates are not met.
  • Quality of building blocks: establish quality strategy for reusable APIs (contracts, compatibility, regression, performance, versioning, and consumer safety).
  • Test strategy by layer: standardize BDD and scalable automation, balancing cost × risk × speed (contract/integrated/regression/performance).
  • Observability and resilience: connect quality practices to good observability and degradation strategies, reducing detection and recovery time.
  • QA Chapter: lead the Chapter with pragmatic governance (playbooks, rituals, standards, and enablement), raising consistency and scale.
  • Coaching and mentoring: develop other QAs (and influence engineering) for sustainable adoption of BDD, automation, and quality discipline.
