About Pinterest

What is Pinterest?

Pinterest describes itself as "an AI-powered visual search and discovery platform, positioned at the intersection of search, social, and commerce," offering "a unique and differentiated experience that enables people to go from inspiration to action all on one consumer internet property." Its consumer-facing framing is simpler: "a visual search and discovery platform where people find inspiration, curate ideas and shop for products—all in a positive place online."

The company was "incorporated in Delaware in 2008 and is headquartered in San Francisco, California," and its Class A common stock "is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol 'PINS'." It now reports over 600 million global monthly active users and quarterly revenue above $1 billion, with CEO Bill Ready noting in May 2026 a "tenth consecutive quarter of double-digit user growth."

Product-wise, users save and organise Pins onto "virtual 'boards'", and Related Pins serves "a feed of visually similar Pins… beneath the tapped image." Pinterest notes that "over 90% of our searches are unbranded" — a large part of why it functions as a commerce surface as much as a social one.

Where will I work?

Pinterest runs PinFlex, which it defines as "Pinterest's unique, flexible work model that enables us to meet the needs of our business while empowering our team to do their best work, grow their career, and build meaningful connections. What this looks like day-to-day can vary based on the needs of each organization or role."

In practice that means location autonomy rather than a fixed hybrid rota: "We empower employees to work from a Pinterest office or another virtual location for work that can be performed anywhere within their country or region of employment." There is no published number of office days — instead "every employee will be expected to come into Pinterest offices for in-person collaboration moments throughout the year," with leaders defining when those matter. Roles that do require regular in-office collaboration carry a stated commute or location expectation, so check the posting.

Pinterest lists offices in 22 cities, including San Francisco (HQ, at 651 Brannan Street), New York, Seattle, Chicago, Palo Alto, Los Angeles, Toronto, Mexico City, São Paulo, Buenos Aires, London, Dublin, Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Paris, Madrid, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo.

What is the Pinterest team like?

Pinterest reported 5,265 full-time employees as of 31 December 2025. Job ads open on the mission — "At Pinterest, we're on a mission to bring everyone the inspiration to create a life they love, and that starts with the people behind the product" — and hiring spans engineering, data science, product, design, sales, trust and safety, and operations. Engineering roles skew toward Python, Java, Spark, Go and Kubernetes on open-source infrastructure such as MySQL, Kafka, Envoy and Hadoop.

Work-Life Balance

Pinterest is not a reduced-hours employer: PinFlex is a flexibility-of-location model, not a shorter week, and Pinterest publishes no four-day-week or compressed-hours policy.

Its strongest published commitment is parental leave — a minimum of 20 weeks of global paid parental leave. Time off is described as "flexible and generous vacation and holidays," with a global year-end paid company holiday closure so the break is genuinely shared rather than individually negotiated. Pinterest does not publish a specific day count, and notably never calls the policy unlimited.

For working abroad, the Global30 Program lets eligible employees, "with leadership approval… spend up to 30 calendar days working outside their country of employment over a rolling 12-month period."
