About Inland Empire Utilities Agency

What is the Inland Empire Utilities Agency?

The Inland Empire Utilities Agency (IEUA) is a regional wastewater-treatment agency and wholesale distributor of imported water serving roughly 950,000 people across 242 square miles of western San Bernardino County, California. Established in 1950 as the Chino Basin Municipal Water District and renamed in 1998, it serves seven member agencies — Chino, Chino Hills, Fontana, Montclair, Ontario, Upland and the Cucamonga Valley Water District — as a member of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. Its mission runs in three parts: turning wastewater into recycled water, turning biosolids into compost, and generating renewable electricity along the way.

Where will I work?

IEUA's headquarters at 6075 Kimball Avenue, Chino — a building with history: in 2002 it became the first public agency in the United States to earn a Platinum LEED rating from the U.S. Green Building Council. The campus includes the Chino Creek Wetlands & Educational Park, 22 acres of habitat whose six wetland ponds provide tertiary treatment for a million gallons of recycled water a day.

What is the IEUA team like?

A few hundred professionals across engineering, water resources, finance, IT, government affairs and plant operations. Recent postings include Accountants, a Government Affairs Analyst, an HR Analyst and an Information Security Administrator. We list the agency's office/professional roles; plant-operations and trades positions run their own shift rosters and are excluded from our feed.

Work-Life Balance

The agency's own benefits page states it plainly: "Most employees participate in a 4/10 work week." — and the building's public hours match, Monday through Thursday only. Four ten-hour days, a three-day weekend every week.
