Work-Life Balance — Equalised Parental Leave (the headline benefit)

Diageo's flagship work-life perk is its equalised parental leave, introduced in April 2019 for all 4,500 UK employees including the 3,100 Scotland-based manufacturing roles. The policy provides 52 weeks of parental leave with the first 26 weeks at full pay — identical for every parent regardless of gender or sexual orientation, and whether becoming a parent biologically, through adoption or surrogacy. Diageo's Global HRD has described the equalisation as "a powerful driver of engagement and retention" in a 2025 HR Grapevine interview. The policy has since been extended to several other key markets globally; the UK-headline figure of 26 weeks at full pay applies in those markets too.
