About City of Pico Rivera

What is the City of Pico Rivera?

The City of Pico Rivera is the municipal government of Pico Rivera, California — a southeast Los Angeles County city of roughly 62,000, incorporated in 1958 and named for Pío Pico, the last Mexican governor of Alta California. It is a lean, contract-model city — law enforcement comes from the LA County Sheriff's Pico Rivera Station and fire from LA County Fire — yet it is unusually utility-rich for its size: the city runs PRIME, a city-operated community-choice electricity programme serving more than 18,000 accounts since 2017, and the Pico Rivera Water Authority supplies the city entirely from its own groundwater. It also maintains more than 120 acres of parks and recreation facilities. Aerospace history buffs know the city as the place where Northrop developed the B-2 stealth bomber.

Where will I work?

Pico Rivera City Hall at 6615 Passons Boulevard. The city's own job bulletins spell the schedule out: "City Hall is open Monday through Thursday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Employees work a 4/10 schedule from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM." Four ten-hour days and a three-day weekend, every week.

What is the City of Pico Rivera team like?

A compact civic workforce of around 160 authorised full-time positions — small enough that professional staff see the whole organisation. Recent civilian postings include a Senior Human Resources Manager, REACH Site Coordinator and Planning Intern. We list Pico Rivera's civilian professional positions; part-time recreation roles run separate schedules and are excluded from our feed.

Work-Life Balance

Every Friday is yours, structurally — the 4/10 is written into the city's own bulletins as how employees work, not an individual arrangement. Employee reviews back it up: Pico Rivera rates 4.2 overall on Indeed with work-life balance at 4.1, and reviews consistently describe a "productive, fun place to work" that cares about "work life balance". Standard California municipal conditions apply: CalPERS defined-benefit pension membership, formal vacation and sick accruals, paid holidays, and salary ranges published on every bulletin.
