The City of Covina is the municipal government of Covina, California — a San Gabriel Valley city of about 51,000 (with roughly 30,000 more in adjacent unincorporated areas using Covina addresses), founded in 1884 and incorporated in 1901. Its historic core, Old Town Covina, keeps the 1911 Firehouse Jail Museum — the city's first municipal building — right behind City Hall, and the downtown is a favourite of location scouts: the TV series Roswell dressed Citrus Avenue and City Hall as its fictional Roswell, New Mexico, and Wayne's World's "Bohemian Rhapsody" scene was shot on the same street. The city runs its own Covina Police Department, and with 252 staff is one of the town's largest employers.
