Boulder City is the municipal government of Boulder City, Nevada — the town built by the federal government in 1931 to house Hoover Dam's construction workforce, incorporated as a city in 1959. Just 25 miles from Las Vegas but deliberately unlike it (one of only two Nevada cities where gambling is illegal), Boulder City is a ~15,000-resident community that owns its own historic identity, its municipal airport, an electric utility and the gateway to Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
