Do you want to do more than just write code? Do you also want to help think through how a platform stays scalable, fast and future-proof? As a Mid-level Back-end Developer at Nmbrs Invoicing, you will build the APIs, services and integrations that thousands of entrepreneurs rely on every day. You will have the freedom to make technical choices and to have a real impact on our product.

Time to grow. Time to thrive.

We are Nmbrs. We make smart business software that removes unnecessary complexity for small and medium-sized business owners and the professionals who support them. Nmbrs brings together four established product organisations—Payroll, Accounting, Invoicing and Reporting—with teams in the Netherlands, Sweden and Portugal.

We are one brand with a shared ambition, while continuing to work from the expertise and strength of our own organisations. We pool our strengths where that makes sense, and keep teams, expertise and decision-making close together.

For this role you will work at Nmbrs Invoicing in Eersel. You will work closely with your direct colleagues at this location and, at the same time, be part of the wider Nmbrs organisation.

Your role

As a Mid-level Back-end Developer at Nmbrs Invoicing, you are responsible for the technical foundation under our product. You design and build APIs and services, ensure that our databases remain extremely fast, and connect our platform to external systems. You work in sprints together with the product team and our Portuguese colleagues, and actively contribute to the technical direction of our platform.

In concrete terms, you will:

  • Build APIs & Services: You design and develop APIs and services that are stable, secure and highly scalable;

  • Realise Integrations: You build and maintain connections with external services and third-party APIs;

  • Optimise Performance: You optimise databases and queries and monitor the performance of our platform, so that everything remains fast and reliable;

  • Guard Quality & Share Knowledge: You carry out code reviews and coach junior developers in their growth;

  • Help Build the Future: You contribute to architectural decisions and to our technical roadmap.

Your impact

With your work you ensure that thousands of entrepreneurs can invoice every day without worries. You build the technology that you don't see, but that makes everything possible.

For example: we want to add AI recognition for purchase invoices. You help decide how that fits into our architecture, build the necessary APIs and ensure that everything runs smoothly even under heavy load. If you come across slow or outdated code, you bring it up to our new standards.

With thoughtful choices, sharp code reviews and coaching junior colleagues, you ensure that our platform is ready for tomorrow's growth.

Your profile

You are analytical, structured and have an eye for quality. You make technical decisions independently, can justify them well, and enjoy sharing your knowledge with colleagues.

In addition, you have:

  • At least a university of applied sciences (HBO) level of work and thinking, preferably in the field of Computer Science;

  • 3 to 6 years of experience as a back-end developer in a PHP environment;

  • Experience with API design, versioning and integrations with external systems;

  • Knowledge of database design, migrations and performance optimisation;

  • Experience with (micro)services architecture and container technology such as Docker;

  • Understanding of caching strategies (Redis, Memcached) and message queues (RabbitMQ);

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, load testing, monitoring and security best practices.

What we offer

  • Salary: €3.500–€4.500 gross per month based on a full-time working week, depending on your knowledge and experience.
