As a Senior Back-end Developer at Nmbrs Invoicing, you will lead large technical projects, provide direction for our architecture and help other developers grow. For this role, you will work at Nmbrs Invoicing in Eersel. You will work closely with your direct colleagues at this location and at the same time be part of the broader Nmbrs organization.

Your role

As a Senior Back-end Developer at Nmbrs Invoicing, you are the technical driving force behind our platform. You design APIs and services, safeguard the architecture and ensure that our platform remains secure, scalable and reliable. You work in a multidisciplinary team following the Scrum method, in two-week sprints. Our local development environment runs on Docker and we develop in PHPStorm. We write new code in Symfony, with views in Twig and VanillaJS. Because our product has existed for more than 20 years, you work with both legacy code and new, strict PHP code.

Specifically, you will:

  • Architecture & direction: you develop architectural guidelines and safeguard them, including security, scalability and performance principles;

  • APIs & integrations: you design and develop APIs and services, and build and maintain integrations with external systems, third-party APIs and enterprise environments;

  • Lead technical projects: you lead (large) technical projects, from concept to realization;

  • Performance & reliability: you optimize databases, data flows and infrastructure, and monitor and improve performance, security and reliability at platform level;

  • Quality & coaching: you carry out thorough code reviews and actively coach mid-level and junior developers;

  • Innovation & roadmap: you evaluate and introduce new technologies and tools, make an important contribution to strategic and technical decisions, and work with other teams to identify technical opportunities, risks and innovations across the organization.

Your impact

With your work, you ensure that our platform not only works well today, but is also ready for the growth of the coming years. You help determine how we build, which technology we choose and how we safeguard quality, security and speed for tens of thousands of entrepreneurs and more than 1,000 accounting and administration firms.

Suppose the number of invoices running through our platform grows rapidly and certain processes start to slow down. You analyze where the bottlenecks are, propose a solution (for example a different caching strategy, a smarter data flow or splitting a component into a separate service) and lead the project from design to go-live. Along the way, you involve colleagues in your choices so that the whole team learns from it.

In addition, you help build the technical foundations of our organization. With clear architecture guidelines, a strong review culture and the introduction of new tools and techniques, you ensure that our stack remains future-proof. In this way, your work has a direct influence on how Nmbrs Invoicing grows technically in the coming years.

Your profile

You have deep technical insight, a strategic outlook and the drive to continuously take our technology to a higher level. You like to take the lead, can clearly substantiate complex choices and enjoy helping other developers grow.

In addition, you have:

  • At least a university of applied sciences (HBO) level of work and thinking, preferably in the field of Computer Science;

  • 10+ years of experience as a back-end developer in a PHP environment;

  • Extensive experience with database architecture, migrations, sharding and performance optimization;

  • Experience with microservices architecture, container technology (Docker/Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP);

  • Strong knowledge of caching strategies (Redis, Memcached) and message brokers (RabbitMQ, Kafka);

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, IaC, monitoring stacks and security hardening;

  • Experience with coaching, training and developing developers is a plus.

  • A gross salary of €4,800 – €6,200 per month based on a full-time working week, depending on your knowledge and experience;

  • An attractive bonus scheme (with a permanent contract), through which you can earn up to 150% of your gross monthly salary;
