What is WaterNSW?
"WaterNSW operates the state's dams, capturing and storing water, and then supplying it ready for distribution – for the environment, agriculture, industry and the community." It is the NSW Government's bulk water supplier: "With 41 major dams and hundreds of waterways across the state, we play a vital role at the source of the state's water, delivering two thirds of all water used in NSW." That work spans maintaining dams, river systems and their mechanical plant, catchment programmes, water regulation, health and safety, and the corporate teams behind them.
Where will I work?
Across New South Wales. Corporate roles are based at the Parramatta Hub, and operational roles at dams, depots and regional sites — current adverts include a water regulation role offered from Beresfield, Narrabri, Albury or Nowra, and instrumentation, electrical and mechanical trades at sites from Leeton and Tumut to Warragamba and Dubbo. WaterNSW's Enterprise Agreement recognises different scenarios for remote working, including roles that "may have a hybrid approach to remote working", while field and site roles work on location.

Work-Life Balance
Most WaterNSW adverts lead their benefits with "Work a 9-day fortnight at Full pay on the Enterprise Agreement" — seven of the ten live on 22 September 2026. The Enterprise Agreement sets a 36-hour ordinary week and leaves how those hours are arranged to the employer; the arrangements it names are a ten-day fortnight at 7.2 hours a day and a "Nine day fortnight at 8 hours per day with an accrued day off", and some maintenance trade roles are advertised on an 8-day fortnight instead. Whatever the arrangement, it is the same 72 hours a fortnight: the nine-day version trades slightly longer days for a day off every second week, rather than reducing hours. We only list WaterNSW jobs whose own advert offers the nine-day fortnight. For field and site roles, WaterNSW notes that flexibility can come in other ways, "such as through a condensed work week".
