About VIA
What is VIA?
"Headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, VIA is a mission-critical software company that enables organizations to share and analyze sensitive data at speed without compromising security or control." Its decentralized architecture keeps data sovereign, its agentic AI helps organizations solve critical challenges and its military-grade security governs access, making sensitive data usable "wherever the mission happens, even offline". The product line includes GHOST, which reveals "under-leveraged intelligence to disrupt criminal networks"; Quantum Transfer for quantum-resistant file transfers; SLAM AI, "Private AI insights with zero data sharing"; the VIA Wallet; and VIA ZTF for passwordless logins. In its own words, "VIA delivers mission-critical software for the DoW, NGOs, and Fortune 50 enterprises", and its customers also include U.S. state law enforcement and corrections agencies. The United States Air Force has granted its eJARVIS agentic AI solution an IL5 continuous authority to operate, and it runs secure stipend payments for families in Haiti with Hope for Haiti. Founded in 2016, VIA is led by its co-founders, CEO Colin Gounden and COO Kate Ravanis, and has been granted 25 patents. Its mission: "We make communities cleaner, safer, and more equitable through real-time verification, automated ingestion, and secure analysis of private data".
Where will I work?
VIA's headquarters is on Highland Avenue in Somerville, Massachusetts, and it also has offices in Washington, DC, Montreal and Zurich. Roles are hybrid, with "flexibility to work from home as needed, as well as access to three well-located offices, designed for collaboration". There are no fixed office days in the postings, and staff can work remotely from eligible locations for up to two months a year. In September 2026 its 14 openings, all in Somerville or Washington, DC, include data analytics and data platform engineers, senior software engineers, including one focused on cryptography, DevOps specialists, a principal product designer and a product marketing lead. The exception to the hybrid pattern is a workplace and facilities coordinator, who must be in the Somerville office four to five days a week, and the director of IT infrastructure and security must hold U.S. citizenship and be able to pass stringent background checks and clearances.
What is the VIA team like?
VIA has about 90 employees, who call themselves VIAneers and "join us from all walks of life. From agriculture to astrophysics". Its six values include "Respect a challenge and challenge with respect", "Be each other's biggest fan", "Stay curious" and "Ready, set, RESILIENCE!" Through the VIAneer Experience Program, "we get to know what truly motivates you to do your best work and we offer the support and opportunity to go after it," says Emma Fechney, VP of People and Operations. Growth runs through VIA YOU, "a dedicated home for employee growth" that launched with the VIA Ignite flagship program, and Harvard Business School has written about VIA's leadership and organization design three times. All-company Power Ups bring the team together in person.
Work-Life Balance
Every VIA posting lists the same time-off package: "Flexible Vacation Policy with no set annual limit or accrual period, Summer Fridays, and an extended holiday period in December". VIA doesn't publish which months Summer Fridays run or whether Fridays are full or half days. Hybrid working lets staff work from home as needed, and up to two months a year can be spent working remotely from eligible locations. Family support includes up to 24 weeks of paid parental leave and a four-week paid ramp-back program.
