About TetraScience
What is TetraScience?
TetraScience calls itself "the Scientific Data and AI Company and developer of the Tetra OS, the operating system for scientific intelligence", a business "fundamentally reimagining and replatforming science for the AI era." Laboratory instruments and informatics systems throw off raw, fragmented output; TetraScience connects them, engineers that output into reusable AI-ready scientific data, and makes it usable across discovery, development, quality and manufacturing. The published vision is to "Enable Scientific AI to solve humanity's grand challenges"; the mission is to "improve and extend human life."
Its customers "include many of the world's top biopharmaceutical firms", and its partner ecosystem names NVIDIA, Databricks, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Snowflake, Google and Microsoft. Backers include Underscore_VC and Insight Partners; postings describe "a VC-backed Series C company."
Where will I work?
Boston is home, and many roles are posted there or in nearby Cambridge. Beyond Massachusetts the live board spans US-remote positions, Indianapolis and Princeton, plus European bases in Basel, the Frankfurt/Darmstadt/Dusseldorf region and Copenhagen. Most engineering and platform postings list "Flexible working arrangements" and remote work. Customer-facing Scientific Solutions roles are the clear exception and say so up front: one Basel posting asks you to "engage directly with customers onsite 4-5 days per week", and a Boston equivalent says "up to 4-5 days per week in the Boston region."
What is the TetraScience team like?
Internally the team are "Sciborgs", and the company states that 46% of employees have a life-sciences background — scientists and data engineers working side by side. The culture is codified in a public manifesto, "The Tetra Way", which candidates are asked to read before interviewing, and it is unusually blunt: "we do not operate like any company you have worked at prior", "we are a serious team that relentlessly aspires to become elite and high-performing in everything we do", and "We acknowledge that our culture is not for everyone." Six values anchor it — transparency and context, trust and collaboration, fearlessness and resilience, equality of opportunity, alignment with customers, and commitment to craft. The transparency is literal: employees get "access to everything that the board of directors and I have access to" including the cap table and full financials, because "There is zero information asymmetry at TetraScience."
Work-Life Balance
Most US postings pair "Unlimited paid time off (PTO)" with "Flexible working arrangements". European and field-based roles use different wording — "Generous paid time off (PTO)" — so read the specific posting rather than assuming. Go in clear-eyed about intensity, because the company itself is direct about it: The Tetra Way says you "will be treated in all regards as an emotionally mature adult and highly paid professional, and thus, you will not be pampered or placated", and frames the company as "a team, not a family or community." Several postings add "a culture of continuous improvement where you can grow your career and get coaching."
