About Sesame
What is Sesame AI?
Sesame is building voice companions that make computers lifelike. The mission, in the team's own words: "We believe in a future where computers are lifelike. They will see, hear, and collaborate with us the way we're used to. A natural human voice is key to unlocking this future."
The company has two product goals that work together. First, a personal agent — "an ever-present brilliant friend and conversationalist, keeping you informed and organized, helping you be a better version of yourself" — already available as a research preview that Sesame describes as "crossing the uncanny valley of conversational voice." Second, lightweight eyewear — "designed to be worn all day, giving you high-quality audio and convenient access to your companion who can observe the world alongside you."
Sesame describes itself as "an interdisciplinary product and research team focused on making voice companions useful for daily life." The team is led by "founders from Oculus and Ubiquity6, alongside proven leaders from Meta, Google, and Apple, with deep expertise spanning hardware and software."
Where will I work?
Sesame is headquartered in San Francisco with a small but rapidly growing team. The current 33 open roles span iOS, Android, web, ML/research, hardware engineering, product, and design — reflecting the cross-disciplinary nature of building both a software companion and consumer eyewear hardware.
What is the Sesame team like?
The team blends consumer product, research, and hardware backgrounds — exactly the disciplines required to build voice agents that work in daily life and the wearable hardware that delivers them. JDs emphasise craft and quality: "build Sesame's standalone companion app — the foundation for a new consumer product category — on a team that highly values craft and quality." Engineering hires are expected to bring "strong intuition and deeply considered opinions" about app design and aesthetics, alongside the technical chops to ship "lightning-fast, ergonomic, and innovative iOS UI" (or the equivalent across platforms).
