What is Roadie?
Roadie is a logistics and delivery platform, and in its own words "a UPS Company." Its published boilerplate reads: "Roadie, a UPS Company, is a logistics management and crowdsourced delivery platform. Founded in 2014, Roadie offers businesses fast, flexible and asset-light logistics solutions for last-mile delivery." Instead of running its own fleet, Roadie matches deliveries to a nationwide network of more than 310,000 independent drivers, enabling local delivery to "more than 97% of U.S. households" across more than 30,000 zip codes — "from urban hubs to rural communities." Its solutions "include: local same-day delivery, delivery from warehouse with in-house sortation, oversized delivery, sustainable delivery, returns and more," used by retailers, grocers, airlines, auto parts sellers, pharmacies, home improvement chains and construction suppliers. Roadie is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, the dateline on its press releases.
Where will I work?
Remotely, from within the United States. Roadie lists a "Remote-first environment" in every job ad and every current corporate opening is posted as REMOTE, supported by a monthly work-from-home stipend and "the technology you need to get the job done." Roles are US-only: "Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S." Roadie's careers page pairs remote working with schedule control, describing a "Flexible schedule and work environment."
What is the Roadie team like?
Roadie describes itself as "a small, growing team of smart people solving hard problems in a company that has heart," adding: "We run headfirst at obstacles. We slow down and celebrate things that matter. We're changing the future of logistics." The corporate team — engineering, product, customer experience, trust and safety, enablement and training — sits behind the independent driver network rather than in it. Its five values are "Bring Yourself" ("Diversity makes us better"), "Make Magic," "Keep It Real" ("Every dialogue is grounded in respect"), "Just Go" and "Pop Bottles" ("We make time and space to play").
Work-Life Balance
Roadie states that it offers "benefits and perks designed to support employee health, well-being and work-life balance." Two things stand out. Under Flexibility, the careers page says: "Flexible schedule and work environment, with a four-day work week for the Support team." Separately, several corporate job ads list "Monthly 3-day weekends" alongside a "Flexible work schedule with unlimited PTO." Note that the two sources word the leave policy differently — job ads say "Unlimited PTO," while the careers page says "Generous PTO, including paid parental leave and a liberal PTO plan for full-time hourly employees" — so it is worth confirming for the specific role you apply to. On top of that sit "Paid Wellness Days in addition to Company holidays" and "Paid sabbatical leave," where "tenured Roadies are given extra time to unplug, rest, and explore."
