About Remote
What is Remote?
Remote Technology, Inc. (remote.com) is a global HR/EOR platform that "eliminates barriers to international hiring so great companies can work with great people, no matter where those people are." Founded by CEO Job van der Voort and President Marcelo Lebre, Remote is "one of the world's largest remote-first, fully asynchronous global companies."
Its Global HR Platform covers Employer of Record (EOR), Contractor Management, Payroll, Recruit, US Expansion Offering, Remote Relocation, Expansion Consulting Services, Global Benefits and Stock Options — built around an API for programmatic integration. Five values guide everything: Care, Innovation, Transparency, Intensity, Excellence. The company maintains an extensive public handbook on Notion, openly documenting how Remoters work and what they get.
Where will I work?
Anywhere. The handbook is explicit: "Remote is a global company. We do not have an office anywhere in the world. We are also not a corporate or traditional company whatsoever." Remoters work from their chosen locations on six continents (Antarctica still the only gap), spanning 90+ nationalities and 50+ languages. The model is async-first: "All Remoters work from their chosen locations on the planet and enjoy flexible working hours along with world-class compensation, equity options, and more." A co-working allowance is available for those who want a desk away from home.
What is the Remote team like?
The team spans 12 main departments (Sales, Sales Enablement, Legal, International Operations, People, Product, Remote Financial Services, Operations, Design, Engineering, Finance, FinTech, Marketing) with 90+ nationalities. Leadership includes CEO Job van der Voort, President Marcelo Lebre, Chief People Officer Barbara Matthews, COO Iarla O'Carroll, CFO Michiel Boere, CLO Sam Ross, CTO Sofia Silva, and CBO Michelle Adams. The culture is operationalized around the five values plus a Culture of Documentation, concise written communication, holistic thinking, and an "Impact manifesto." Remote runs a Bar Raiser interview process and publicly documents accessible/inclusive interview practices.
Work-Life Balance
Remote's "flexible PTO" policy: every Remoter is expected to take an average of 25–30 workdays per year of PTO — in addition to statutory public holidays — with the policy that "PTO, while flexible, generally should not exceed 30 days per year, to ensure a manageable workload and equitable use of PTO for all Remoters." A "no ask, must communicate" rule applies to PTO under 1 day; manager approval is required for longer absences. Working hours are flexible by design. A paid parental leave policy is in place (with country-specific specifics). Mental health support is provided via Oliva. Death in Service support and a $2,000 USD reproductive-health travel/lodging allowance are documented in the public handbook.
