What is Radar?
Radar builds location infrastructure: the software layer that tells an app where a device is, whether that location can be trusted, and what should happen next. It sells three products on one platform — Protect for precise location verification and geo-compliance, Optimize for arrival detection, live tracking and job management, and Engage for location-based marketing — alongside developer building blocks for base maps, geocoding, autocomplete, routing and geofencing. Radar calls itself "The global leader in location infrastructure and intelligence", and the scale backs it up: its site cites 1,000+ installed apps, 300M+ installed devices and more than a billion API requests a day.
The company has been building since 2016. Its customers range "from high-growth startups to the Fortune 500" across financial services, retail, restaurants, gaming, travel and hospitality, and logistics, and it has raised $85.5M from investors including Accel and Insight Partners.
Where will I work?
In New York. Radar is an in-person company and says so plainly: "Most of our team works from our NYC office 4 or 5 days per week", at a headquarters in the Flatiron district. Some roles spell out an office week of Monday to Thursday "with flexibility to work remotely on Fridays", and customer-facing technical roles travel for customer on-sites a few times a quarter. Every role on the current board is based in New York — this is not a remote employer.
What is the Radar team like?
Radar is candid that it is not for everyone: "Radar is not an easy place to work." It describes a high-performance culture — "We operate like a championship team, not a family" — in which high performers are rewarded generously and grow quickly. It calls itself apolitical and mission-focused, and says it does not engage in social or political activism unrelated to its core business. Its values are Walk a mile (deeply understanding customers — and literally getting up from your desk), Build for scale, Play offense, Raise the bar and Enjoy the ride. Engineering meets "on Mondays to plan out work for the week in small groups", and while "Slack is the brain of our company", the team believes working together in person is the fastest way to get things done. Headcount is roughly 160.
Work-Life Balance
Radar's time-off policy is unlimited PTO, listed in the benefits section of all twenty of its live job postings and on the careers page. Be clear about the trade-off: this is a demanding, mostly in-office, full-time week — the company says so itself — and the perk is uncapped leave rather than shorter hours. There is no reduced schedule. What you get is the freedom to take the time you need without a fixed allowance, alongside monthly team events and catered lunches in the office.
