What is Philo?
Philo is a TV streaming service known for live and on-demand cable channels at a competitive price, plus a deep DVR and personalised recommendations powered by an in-house ML team. Where will I work?
Philo runs three offices: San Francisco, Brooklyn NY, and Cambridge MA, with Hybrid or Remote roles across the U.S. The SF office has a rooftop with a view; offices are dog-friendly with catered lunches on Mondays and Wednesdays and stocked kitchens. Most engineering roles list multiple offices plus remote flexibility.
What is the Philo team like?
Current open roles concentrate in engineering and ML — Head of Data, Head of Data Engineering, Lead Backend Software Engineer (Product), Sr. Analytics Engineer, and Sr. Machine Learning Engineer (Recommendation Systems). Team members are called Philons and benefit from a structured continuous-learning culture: free access to Philo Academy (an internal platform with courses and videos), plus Education & Professional Development funding up to $5,250 for external classes, seminars, and training programs.
