About Nasland Engineering

What is Nasland Engineering?

Nasland Engineering is a civil engineering, surveying and land planning firm. It was founded in San Diego in 1959 as "a small land-surveying business" and "has expanded to offer full-service civil engineering, surveying, and land-planning services"; its early work included surveying and construction staking for SeaWorld San Diego in 1964 and San Diego Stadium in 1967. "Our licensed civil engineers and land surveyors serve a diverse range of clients across California, Idaho, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington, contributing to projects that shape communities and help build infrastructure."

Its civil engineers design grading, storm water, water, sewer and storm drain systems, and traffic and transportation work; its surveyors run ALTA, topographic, drone aerial and construction staking surveys and 3D laser scanning; and its planners take projects from feasibility studies through rezoning, tentative maps and use permits. Its projects have won awards from the American Public Works Association, the American Society of Civil Engineers and ACEC California, among them UC San Diego's Franklin Antonio Hall and SANDAG's Pershing Bikeway.

Where will I work?

In the office, in San Diego or Boise. Nasland's headquarters is in San Diego's Kearny Mesa, and it opened a regional office in Boise, Idaho, in 2020. Every posting names one of the two offices, and none mentions remote work. In October 2026 it is hiring a civil design engineer, a senior civil design engineer and a civil project engineer in Boise, and a civil design engineer, a project engineer, a professional land surveyor ($85,000–$115,000) and a land surveying analyst in San Diego.

What is the Nasland team like?

"Our community of talented engineers, surveyors, designers, technical specialists, and administrative professionals work together to deliver exceptional results." "At Nasland, we believe in balancing professional excellence with plenty of fun": its annual events include a summer BBQ, a Padres game, Boise State football and basketball outings, the ASCE softball tournament and a holiday party, alongside regular happy hour trivia. "For more than 65 years, Nasland has delivered high-quality service to a diverse clientele, resulting in repeat business that speaks volumes about our reputation."

Work-Life Balance

Nasland's careers page lists a "9/80 Work Schedule (Every other Friday off)" first among its benefits, and its engineering postings repeat it: "9/80 work schedule, promoting a better work-life balance." A 9/80 schedule fits 80 hours into nine working days, so every other Friday is a day off. Its two surveying postings list the same benefits without the 9/80. Staff also get paid time off.
