About MS Society

What is the MS Society?

The MS Society is the UK's leading multiple sclerosis (MS) charity, founded in 1953 and supporting more than 150,000 people living with MS in the UK. The organisation is registered as charity nos. 1139257 (England & Wales) and SC041990 (Scotland), and operates from its registered office at Carriage House, 8 City North Place, London N4 3FU. Together with scientists, campaigners, volunteers, and fundraisers, the Society works to "stop MS" — funding world-leading research, sharing the latest information, and campaigning for everyone's rights.

The charity focuses on four critical areas: Research & Innovation (funding scientific research toward better treatments and a cure), Community Support (a national network of local groups and online forums), Advocacy & Campaigning (for improved services, treatments, and support), and Information & Resources (including the MS Helpline at 0808 800 8000 for expert advice on managing symptoms and accessing services).

Where will I work?

The MS Society offers hybrid working with flexibility to work remotely and from the modern London HQ. The team operates a roughly 50% onsite hybrid model — staff balance the benefits of home working with onsite collaboration to maintain connection to the cause. JD locations are listed as UK-wide, England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, or overseas.

What is the MS Society team like?

The team is ~368 strong, structured around the charity's research, support, advocacy, and information missions. Day-one offerings include flexible smart working, structured induction, in-house learning workshops and courses, and performance management systems designed to support development. Three current vacancies illustrate the work: Social and Digital Media Creator, Production Manager (Creative, Marketing, Digital, Content and Channels), and Virtual Communities Manager.

Long-tenured staff unlock additional benefits — after three years, employees get additional annual leave, the option to apply for sabbatical leave, and increased benefits under the occupational sick pay scheme.

Work-Life Balance

The MS Society offers 35 days of annual leave (including bank holidays, pro-rata for part-time staff), with the option to buy and sell additional days. Time off in lieu is provided for volunteering, and paid emergency leave is available. Family-friendly leave is enhanced, alongside enhanced disability and carer's leave. A confidential 24/7 helpline supports both staff and their families with specialist advice and information.
