About LSEG
What is LSEG?
LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) is one of the world's largest providers of financial markets infrastructure and data. In its own words, "LSEG creates opportunity across the global economy. We unlock the power of markets for customers all over the world", partnering with them "at every stage of trading".
The group runs four business divisions: "Data & Analytics, FTSE Russell, Risk Intelligence and Markets". It is a publicly listed company with unusually deep roots — "Since 1698, we have been helping customers seize opportunities and create value" — and its data business serves customers in more than 170 countries.
Where will I work?
LSEG describes itself as "over 26,000 people, in 65 countries, across over 170 locations". The hubs hiring most heavily on its own careers board include London, New York, St. Louis, Bucharest, Cluj, Gdynia, Bangalore, Paris, Tokyo and Beijing.
Work is hybrid rather than remote: "the hybrid approach allows colleagues to split their time between home and the office, with specific patterns agreed amongst individual teams." No group-wide office-day count is published — the stated aim is to "drive sustainable performance – with a focus on the quality of work we produce, as opposed to where it gets done."
What is the LSEG team like?
Engineering is comfortably the largest division hiring on LSEG's own board, ahead of sales and account management, operations, markets, and data and analytics. The stack is broad — "Java, Python, C++, Go and .Net", "frameworks like Angular and React" — used to "process 40 billion market updates every day, deliver scalable microservices, and build real-time data pipelines".
Culture is anchored on four stated values, "Integrity, Partnership, Excellence and Change", which "underpin our purpose and set the standard for everything we do, every day." Colleagues can join employee-led networks "that celebrate identity, foster inclusion and build community", plus WINTech for "women and allies in engineering".
Work-Life Balance
The standout policy is parental leave. Since 1 July 2024, every employee with more than 12 months' service is offered "26 weeks of fully paid leave, when they welcome a child into their family, regardless of the parent's gender, how they become a parent or where they are located globally." That can be followed by "an eight-week phased return to work, working 80% of normal hours at full pay", with up to 12 weeks' additional leave where a baby needs medical attention in its first 28 days. Where local laws provide more, "these will also be honoured."
Elsewhere, LSEG publishes "generous annual leave and two days' paid volunteering time" rather than a holiday figure, plus wellbeing support "with a flexible allowance you can use your way" and "confidential support for life's challenges".
