What is Lithic?
Lithic describes itself as "the modern card issuing and processing platform empowering ambitious financial companies to build the future of payments." Its postings say the infrastructure "powers card programs for 100+ innovative clients, from fintechs reimagining credit and digital banking to platforms transforming disbursements and spend management", and name Mercury, Flex and Novo among them. The pitch is "developer-friendly APIs, direct network connections, and flawless reconciliation" so clients can "launch and scale card programs in weeks, not years."
The company traces its origin on its careers page: "In 2014, we launched a consumer product that reimagined the way people and businesses pay online. In 2021, we spun out Lithic, a card issuer processing technology stack built from scratch." The consumer product is Privacy.com, which the site calls its sister brand. The product range covers card issuing, an accounts and payment hub, program management, processing, and fraud and risk controls, and the site lists a Lithic MCP server for agentic commerce. Lithic reports SOC 1 Type 1, SOC 2 Type 2, PCI DSS and ISO 27001 compliance, and "99.99%+ uptime". Investors named in the postings are Bessemer Venture Partners, Index Ventures, Spark Capital, Stripes and Mastercard.
Where will I work?
Lithic is "a team of 170+ across 26 states and 7 countries, headquartered in New York City." The careers page calls it "Remote Friendly: since we were founded, we've supported our employees in working from wherever they need to be." In practice the eleven open postings split two ways. Seven are remote, with candidates required to be in the United States or, for engineering and support roles, in Canada (Ontario or British Columbia), the Netherlands, Poland or the Czech Republic. Four are hybrid and tied to New York: "NYC-based employees work from our SoHo office three days a week. Tuesdays and Thursdays are our core days, and you'll choose a third day that works for your schedule and team needs." Lithic does not offer visa sponsorship.
What is the Lithic team like?
Six values are published: Customer Centricity, Deliver Excellence, Act Like an Owner, Iterate, Iterate, Iterate, Teach Others and Be a Good Neighbor. The careers page is candid about pace: "This is not a typical 9-5. We set ambitious goals and work hard to make them a reality." Teach Others sets a default of openness: "Work product and communication are default public," with public Slack channels and shared drives preferred. Two engineering postings ask for experience in "a remote, async-first team that's spread across time zones", and they mention Rust, Python and Java and a team on-call rotation. Open roles run across engineering, support, risk, anti-money-laundering, treasury operations and solutions, with advertised US salary ranges from $65,000 up to $225,000 plus equity.
Work-Life Balance
Every one of the eleven postings lists "Unlimited PTO" in its benefits block; the careers page words the same benefit as "Flexible PTO." Lithic adds "12-weeks fully paid parental leave", a "4-Week Fully Paid Sabbatical (earned at your 5-year anniversary)" and "Work From Anywhere: work from anywhere in the world 4-weeks each year." The careers page extends the 12 weeks of paid family leave to "other family support reasons." These benefits are stated for full-time US employees.
