iCapital describes itself as "a global leader in shaping the future of alternatives' investing, providing financial advisors, asset managers, and wealth managers with comprehensive access to non-traditional investment products." Its careers page adds that "through cutting-edge technology, data solutions, and AI-driven processes, iCapital streamlines investing, enhances operational efficiency, and ensures secure, compliant transactions."
The company says it "was founded in 2013 with the goal of making high-quality alternative investments accessible to wealth advisors and their high-net-worth investors, and enabling fund managers to reach new sources of capital." The platform now spans private markets, hedge funds, structured investments, annuities and reporting services, grown steadily by absorbing bank feeder-fund platforms and adjacent technology businesses.
Where will I work?
Per the careers page: "Headquartered in New York, iCapital operates globally with 16 offices, including major hubs in Zurich, London, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, and Toronto, and an industry-leading R&D center in Lisbon." The global headquarters is at 60 East 42nd Street in Manhattan. Live openings cluster in New York, Salt Lake City, Greenwich, Stamford and Lisbon, with smaller numbers in Toronto, Jaipur, Singapore, Hong Kong, London, Edinburgh, Zurich, Miami, Abu Dhabi and Sydney.
This is an office-first employer, and iCapital is direct about it. 190 of the 199 live job ads carry an attendance line, most often: "We believe the best ideas and innovation happen when we are together. Employees in this role will work in the office Monday-Thursday, with the flexibility to work remotely on Friday." Only four ads say "Employees in this role will work fully remote," and the ads note that "some positions will be designated in-office jobs, based on their function."
What is the iCapital team like?
The careers page sets out the culture plainly: "We have an unwavering belief in open communication and transparency between and among all levels of our organization... Our business principles guide our team at every turn; integrity, collaboration, accountability, professionalism, and excellence."
Job titles follow investment-bank banding — Analyst, Associate, Assistant Vice President, Vice President — across technology, operations, distribution and fund finance. On learning, iCapital says: "We view learning and development as a critical investment in our employees. Career growth initiatives are incorporated at every employee level."
Work-Life Balance
iCapital offers "generous unlimited paid-time off (PTO)"; 154 of the 199 live ads repeat "unlimited paid time off (PTO)" verbatim, and 148 list parental leave.
One point matters on a reduced-hours job board: the "four days" that recurs throughout iCapital's ads means four days in the office, not a four-day working week. Friday is the flexible remote day for most roles, not a day off. Nothing on iCapital's site or board mentions a four-day week, 32-hour week or compressed hours.
Beyond time off, iCapital says it is "invested in our employees' physical, emotional, and financial well-being," pointing to "fully-stocked kitchens... monthly social events and volunteer opportunities." Benefits "vary by country and not all benefits are offered in every location."
