About Goalbook

What is Goalbook?

Goalbook (legally Enome, Inc.) is a K-12 EdTech company that builds software helping teachers transform instruction so that all students succeed — with a particular focus on special education. Its flagship Goalbook Toolkit helps special educators develop higher-quality IEPs and implement them with more effective, specially designed instruction. Goalbook partners with over 1,100 school districts across 47 states, working closely with district and school leaders to improve instructional practice. The company operates with an unusual guiding principle: rather than maximizing revenue at the expense of impact, it balances three dimensions — revenue and profitability, instructional impact for customers, and the overall experience of its team.

Where will I work?

Goalbook is a remote-first company. Its headquarters is in San Mateo, California, but "our team members work from home or co-working offices across the country." Job postings are explicitly remote — roles note "This is a remote position… but we are open to location," with regional preferences (e.g. West Coast for People roles, Chicago/Midwest or NYC/Northeast for sales) tied to territory rather than a required office. With most positions location-flexible across the US, Goalbook offers genuine work-from-home flexibility.

What is the Goalbook team like?

Goalbook is a small-to-mid-sized organization of roughly 115 employees across about 30 managers. Over 75% of team members are former K-12 educators and administrators who share a passion for helping all students succeed — so even the corporate functions (engineering, product/content, sales/partnerships, customer success, people) are staffed by people grounded in the classroom. The culture rests on two core values: Relationships (the power of human connection across different strengths and backgrounds) and Growth (a supportive yet challenging environment for continuous professional and personal development). Twice a year the whole company gathers for "Team Weeks" — Goalbook covers airfare, accommodation, and meals — to review accomplishments and build relationships.

Work-Life Balance

Goalbook explicitly designs for balance: its growth value states the team needs "the time, space, and support to thrive in our personal lives as well," aiming to be "a place where people can experience balance and long-term growth." The company runs a Flexible Time Off (FTO) policy — vacation and sick days are not capped — alongside a flexible work schedule, so employees aren't "tied to a specific school calendar or bell schedule." Generous paid leave (up to 14 weeks of full pay under Goalbook Family and Medical Leave) and remote-first working reinforce the balance-first posture.

Perks and Benefits

Goalbook offers a notably rich package. Beyond salary, every team member receives a $10,000/year no-strings "Goalbook Universal Basic Income" stipend plus a $1,500/year professional-growth reimbursement. Health coverage is strong: Goalbook pays the first $2,500/month in medical/dental/vision premiums (often covering 100% for a family of three). Retirement is matched 100% up to 6% of compensation. Mental-health support runs through Modern Health (12 coaching + 12 therapy sessions yearly, paid). Family-building support reaches up to $25,000 for IVF/IUI, surrogacy, or adoption. Annual profit sharing and a company Apple laptop round it out.
