What is Fingerprint?
Fingerprint is a device-intelligence platform used to stop online fraud. Its stated mission is to "Power a safe and seamless internet through device intelligence," and its vision is to "Provide the most accurate, insightful device intelligence signals to reduce fraudulent transactions, strengthen account security, and enhance user experience." The homepage says it is "Trusted by 6000+ companies of all sizes."
The product grew out of open source. Fingerprint's own timeline says it "began as an open-source project called FingerprintJS in 2012," which CTO and co-founder Valentin Vasilyev managed "until developing it into a SaaS product known as FingerprintJS Pro in 2019." Dan Pinto joined as CEO and co-founder in 2020, FingerprintJS was renamed Fingerprint in 2022, and the company has "raised $77 million in four rounds of funding," closing a $33M Series C in October 2023. Live job ads note the open-source library still carries "27K stars on GitHub."
Where will I work?
Wherever the company can legally employ you. Fingerprint puts it plainly: "We're a 100% remote, global team on the cutting edge of online security," and "We're 100% remote across more than 24 countries." There is no head office: "We are a remote-only distributed team that works from our own time zones. From Toronto to London to Delhi, Fingerprint is spread across the globe."
Two constraints, both verbatim from current job ads: "there's a small number of countries where we cannot have Fingerprint teammates based," and "we do not sponsor visas" — you need to be authorised to work from your home location.
What is the Fingerprint team like?
"200+ team members," described as "a small team with a lean hierarchy where you can make a real impact in shaping the company culture." Four values set the tone: "No Nonsense" ("We say what we mean and we mean what we say"), "Fail. Learn. Grow." ("We aren't afraid to take big bets and fail fast"), "Don't take yourself too seriously" ("Memes encouraged"), and "Be level 5 helpful." Open roles span backend and mobile engineering, engineering management, product, product marketing, sales and customer success.
Work-Life Balance
The headline is asynchronous autonomy: "We work asynchronously and respect time-zone differences. Choose where and when you do your work best." The time-off policy is labelled "Flexible Time Off," and Fingerprint adds an unusual guardrail — "To prioritize work-life balance, we even have a minimum vacation days target to encourage everyone gets the rest they need." That is a floor rather than a cap, though the number is not published.
Fingerprint publishes no four-day week, 32-hour week or compressed schedule. Some engineering roles carry "participation in a shared on-call rotation," scheduled in advance and balanced "while minimizing off-hours disruptions." Healthcare, pension and parental-leave terms are not published on the careers site or in job ads.
