About Fidelity International

What is Fidelity International?

Fidelity International is a global asset manager and workplace-investing business, and its own careers site sets out the history precisely: "Established in 1969, founded in Boston in 1946, Fidelity International became independent of the US organisation in 1980. Today, we're owned mainly by management & members of our founding family." That matters when comparing offers: this is not Fidelity Investments, the separately owned US firm - same name and heritage, different employer. Fidelity International says it has "been helping clients plan and save for their futures for over 50 years", working "From more than 25 locations around the world" to provide "investment services and retirement expertise to 2.5 million clients worldwide".

Where will I work?

Roles sit across the global office network rather than one head office. The company's own Workday board currently advertises from Tokyo, Gurgaon, Dalian, Bengaluru, Kingswood in Surrey, London, Hong Kong, Kronberg, Dublin, Luxembourg, Singapore, Taipei and Sydney. Fidelity calls its model "dynamic working" - "working from home, the office or a combination of the two" - and says: "Some roles are location dependent or need set hours, but dynamic working is all about giving you as much flexibility as possible." Expect a genuine hybrid rather than a remote-first job - the company states it offers "a balance of home and office working with at least 12 office days a month".

What is the Fidelity International team like?

Teams span investment management, distribution, customer operations and central functions, plus a large Technology function responsible for "all global aspects of Technology, Digital, Cybersecurity, and Innovation", with major engineering hubs in India and China as well as the UK. Job ads open on a collective note: "We share a commitment to making things better for clients and each other. We continually explore new technology and different ways of working to put our clients first." Employee networks, an allyship programme, a menopause community and the "Talent Marketplace" career-development platform are all published.

Work-Life Balance

Flexibility is the headline claim: "Our commitment to dynamic working means that we'll be as flexible as we can about where and when you work," alongside a promise to "keep your wellbeing at the heart of our thinking". The concrete anchor is that 12-office-days-a-month baseline. On leave, all staff "have access to at least 12 weeks of paid parental leave", and there are "five days of paid leave per year for all our people to carry out their caring responsibilities". Annual leave is a listed benefit but no day count is published, and benefits "are designed with sensitivity to local customs". Nothing on the careers site or the job board mentions a four-day week, a 32-hour week, a nine-day fortnight or compressed hours.
