About Ethos Engineering
What is Ethos Engineering?
Ethos describes itself as "a team of collaborative and creative consultant engineers & professionals, leading data centre and energy infrastructure projects globally" - engineers, consultants and creative thinkers "designing and delivering data centre and energy infrastructure projects across the world's most dynamic markets". The practice is organised around three offers: data centre design, covering "end-to-end engineering design for hyperscale, colocation and enterprise data centre facilities"; energy infrastructure, spanning "grid connection, HV/MV electrical, and sustainable energy systems for critical infrastructure"; and project delivery, meaning "technical advisory, project management, and commissioning support across EMEA and beyond". Ethos reports "350+ Employees globally" and "1550+ Successful projects since 2005", and names work including 1 Wilton Park in Dublin and Digital Realty campuses in Paris and Frankfurt. Its tagline is "Performance made possible".
Where will I work?
Ethos lists offices in Dublin (Bankside, Charlemont Street), Galway, London, Zoetermeer in the Netherlands and Vilnius in Lithuania. Its careers site sets the pattern as "Three days a week in the office. The rest where you work best." Adverts describe "a hybrid remote arrangement in Ireland, requiring attendance at the Dublin office as determined by project needs", and a separate cohort of UK roles attached to a "soon-to-be-launched Birmingham office", which are "initially fully remote" until "the Birmingham hub is operational".
What is the Ethos Engineering team like?
The team spans mechanical and electrical building services design, high-voltage and power systems, physical security design, BIM and Revit modelling, life-cycle assessment and sustainability, and pre-construction coordination, working across data centres, energy, pharmaceutical, life sciences and commercial projects. Ethos publishes a charter it recruits against: "We believe in strong human relationships. We believe clear leadership lights the path. We believe sustainability is non-negotiable. We believe a can-do mindset can move mountains. We believe in a relentless focus on delivery." There is a deliberate early-career route: the Elevate Future Engineers Programme takes school leavers who "begin a professional engineering career while earning a salary and studying towards a Level 7 Engineering Degree through TU Dublin".
Work-Life Balance
Ethos publishes its working week on its own careers site, under the heading "Our approach to work and life": "9 day fortnights - Every second Friday off - in addition to your annual leave." Job adverts repeat it: "Flexible Fridays and a 9-day fortnight working schedule - enjoy every second Friday off to maintain work-life balance." Alongside that sit "flexible working times" and the three-day office pattern above. Annual leave is published as "Starting at 20 days, increasing by one day every two years up to 25 (UK: 25 days)", separate from the fortnightly day off.
