What is Emesent?
Emesent describes itself as "a world leader in drone autonomy, lidar mapping, and data analytics". Its Our Team page says it was "Founded in 2018, after a decade of cutting-edge research at the Robotics and Autonomous Systems arm of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO)". The flagship product, Hovermap, is "a smart mobile scanning unit that combines Advanced Collision avoidance and Autonomous flight technologies to map hazardous and GPS-denied environments", and the company also sells the GX1 handheld and backpack scanner and the Aura and Commander software. Its careers page says it works with robotics suppliers such as DJI and Boston Dynamics to put its technology on drones and ground robots for mining, infrastructure and other industries.

Emesent is headquartered in Brisbane, Queensland, and every open listing is in Brisbane. The Full-Stack Developer posting states "This is an on-site role at Milton office", and the System Administrator role covers "Brisbane HQ and remote sites". Several roles are in production and quality (Production Supervisor, Quality Control Coordinator, Production Assembler), which are production-floor roles. The careers page also mentions a "flexible working model designed to support employee wellbeing and healthy work life balance", without giving details.

The careers page says "over 80% of our staff speaking a second language or born outside of Australia", and the company holds a Great Place To Work certification, citing "a culture of trust, fairness, respect, and camaraderie."
