What is Distinguished Programs?
The postings describe Distinguished as "a leading national insurance Program Manager providing specialized insurance programs to brokers and agents" in areas including real estate, community associations, hospitality, fine art and collectibles, restaurants, marine cargo and construction professionals, working with "a select group of highly rated insurance companies". Its home page says "For almost four decades, Distinguished has been helping specialized insurance brokers meet the needs of their specialized clients", and its about page recalls that "we formed the first real estate purchasing group in the nation" and "were one of the first in the industry to introduce our Broker Connect portal". On 2026-10-16 it had six openings: four underwriters or underwriting managers, an Insurance Client Services Advocate and a Compensation & Benefits Analyst in New York.
Where will I work?
Five of the six postings say "This is a remote position" or "remote role based anywhere in the United States". The Compensation & Benefits Analyst is "remote/hybrid based in the United States" with "(Tristate area preferred 2-3 days per week in NY Office)". Several postings add "Some travel may be required from time to time for team and broker meetings." The careers page mentions "hosting a virtual baby shower for a remote employee" alongside "competing at softball", which suggests a mixed remote and in-person team.
What is the Distinguished Programs team like?
The careers page calls the company "a diverse, but close-knit group of people" and says "Many of our employees have been with us for a long time. We stay at Distinguished because we're given the opportunity to develop, grow, and excel." The postings list core values of Integrity, Innovation, Relationships and Achieve, and the about page says "When you call, you'll likely speak with someone you know by name, who has been with our organization for years." The roles are specialist: underwriters need "years of commercial insurance underwriting experience" and the Underwriting Manager "leads and motivates a team of Underwriters" on the Real Estate Umbrella program. Salaries are published on every posting, from $45,000 to $55,000 base for the client services role to $120,000 to $165,000 base for the Underwriting Manager, each plus a bonus.
Work-Life Balance
Every posting lists "Summer Fridays (Leave at 2:00PM all Fridays from Memorial Day to Labor Day)", which is an early finish on summer Fridays rather than a shorter week. The longer benefits line promises a "generous time off policy including PTO and paid holidays", paid parental leave and "a Sabbatical every 7 years". The postings do not give a number of PTO days.
