What is Continued?
Continued (styled ContinuED) provides online continuing education for working professionals. Members join for "12 months of unlimited access to the course library for your professional area" and earn the CEUs, CE credits or hours they need, with courses for audiology, counseling, early childhood education, massage therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, psychology, respiratory therapy, social work, speech-language pathology and athletic training, plus Simucase. Organizations can buy group access for their staff. The company began, in its own words, with "one audiologist and her entrepreneurial husband": founders Aimee and Bill LaCalle, now co-CEOs, launched AudiologyOnline in 1999 and expanded to serve multiple professions. The family now includes continued.com and the sister sites AudiologyOnline, SpeechPathology.com, PhysicalTherapy.com and OccupationalTherapy.com.
Where will I work?
From home, anywhere in the US. "Our innovative business model has been 100% virtual from day one. No commute. No cubicles." Continued calls itself a pioneer in remote work, with "No bricks & mortar. No cubicles. No water cooler.", and its team members live in more than 35 states and 130 cities. Staff work core business hours in their own time zone, with a company-provided MacBook and an internet stipend, and once a year Continued flies everyone to a new location for its company meeting. Work-Life Balance
Summer weeks are shorter. "Our team gets Friday afternoons off between the Memorial Day and Labor Day holidays," the team page says, "During this period, team members take advantage of half-day Fridays and enjoy slightly longer weekends." Postings list "½ day Summer Fridays Memorial Day to Labor Day". Staff also get 21 days of paid time off a year plus their birthday and national holidays and observances, with flexible substitution of holidays, and they work "8-5 in your time zone".
