About The Community Preservation Corporation
What is The Community Preservation Corporation?
The Community Preservation Corporation (CPC) is a nonprofit lender that finances affordable multifamily housing. It was launched in 1974 through a joint agreement between the City of New York and its leading commercial banks to restore and rebuild New York's aging neighborhoods, and today it describes itself as "the largest CDFI solely committed to investing in multifamily housing", a Community Development Financial Institution that has invested more than $16 billion to finance the creation and preservation of more than 247,000 units of housing across New York State and beyond. CPC runs a construction lending platform, a mortgage bank, and equity and impact investment platforms, all working toward three goals: "Expanding Affordable Housing, Closing the Wealth Gap and Investing in the Green Economy." Its programs include the Housing Central New York Fund and the Climate Friendly Homes Fund, which it administers with New York State Homes and Community Renewal. As one of its mortgage officers puts it: "Because we are a mission-based company, we are lucky to see the fruits of our labor with every loan closing."
Where will I work?
CPC's head office is on East 42nd Street in Manhattan, and it has offices across New York State, including Chappaqua, Albany, Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo. Most roles are hybrid: "This is a hybrid role where you will work from the Manhattan office two – three days a week" is typical, and the same wording appears for the upstate offices. Some roles are fully remote within named states, such as Texas, Kansas and Missouri. Everyone gets two "work from anywhere" weeks each year. The 13 postings open in September 2026 cover seven roles, from an IT Program & Portfolio Manager and a Data Quality & Reporting Analyst to escrow specialists, assistant mortgage officers and directors of asset management and construction risk. A facilities role in Chappaqua is the exception to the hybrid pattern: it is on site four days a week.
What is the CPC team like?
CPC has about 200 employees and looks for people "passionate about our mission" who share its values of "commitment, respect, excellence, accountability, and collaboration." Its careers page says "our talented team drives our dynamic culture, successful business, and deep impact in communities." Staff describe the work in terms of its outcome: "We are making housing equity impact for vulnerable populations, for low income families, and historically discriminated people," says an AVP and mortgage officer in New York City. Team life includes service days to support local communities, company-organized lunch and learns, development and engagement events, monthly wellness events and on-site meals and snacks.
Work-Life Balance
Every CPC posting lists "Summer Fridays", and the careers page files them under "Flexibility and Time Off", beside two "work from anywhere" weeks a year and a hybrid structure with remote work opportunities. CPC doesn't publish which months Summer Fridays run or whether Fridays are full or half days. Paid time off covers vacation, personal days, sick leave, holidays, jury duty, bereavement, parental leave and disability, and family caregiver leave and parental bonding leave help staff look after the people close to them.
