What is Cake?
Cake (cake.ai) is an AI-infrastructure platform that packages the sprawling open-source AI stack — data pipelines, model serving, orchestration, monitoring — into a production-ready platform companies can run in their own cloud. Instead of stitching together dozens of fast-moving OSS projects, Cake's customers get a curated, integrated and continuously-updated stack with enterprise security. Founded in 2022 in New York and backed by ~$13M in seed funding from Primary and Gradient (Google's AI fund), Cake is a small senior team building serious infrastructure. The pitch to engineers is the work itself: instead of maintaining one product surface, you're integrating and hardening the best of the open-source AI ecosystem — Ray, Kubeflow, vLLM-class serving, vector stores, observability — into something regulated enterprises can actually run, with the roadmap driven by what the OSS world ships next. Solutions engineers sit directly with customer ML teams, so the feedback loop from field to platform is days, not quarters.

From home, on Eastern-ish hours: roles are "Remote, collaboration primarily during EST hours", US-based.
What is the Cake team like?
Tiny and senior — roughly a dozen people today, hiring platform engineers and customer-facing solutions engineers. An honest note: the company is too young to have any review-site footprint, so we can't report a work-life-balance rating; what we can report is that its benefits list includes a company-wide monthly half day — a structural rest perk most startups don't offer.
