About Aura Frames

What is Aura?

Aura — the maker of Aura Frames — is a consumer-technology company that reinvented the digital photo frame. As the company puts it, "Aura turned the digital frame into a private social network for more authentic, real-world connection between our closest loved ones." Its WiFi-connected frames and companion app let families and friends share photos instantly to a frame on a loved one's shelf — no feeds, no ads, just the people who matter most. Founded in 2016 by two early Twitter engineers, Aura sells its frames direct to consumers and has been named one of Oprah's Favorite Things. The company's mission is simple: "Build a world where people feel closer to their loved ones every day." (Note: this is Aura Frames / Aura Home, Inc. — distinct from the similarly-named digital-security company at aura.com.)

Where will I work?

Aura is anchored by two offices: "We have offices in New York City and San Francisco." Most roles are based in one of those hubs on a hybrid basis, with the NYC and SF offices stocked with lunch and snacks. Some positions are fully remote — for example, customer-experience roles are advertised as UK-based home-office positions — and the company offers "flexibility to work from home." Open roles span engineering (iOS, device platform, infrastructure), product, analytics, public relations and customer experience.

What is the Aura team like?

Founded by two early Twitter engineers, Aura keeps a builder's, evidence-led culture: "We value transparency and data-driven decision making while always staying focused on bringing joy to our customers." It's a product-obsessed consumer hardware-and-software company where small teams own meaningful parts of the experience — from the frames themselves to the app and the platform that powers millions of shared moments between loved ones.

Work-Life Balance

Aura runs a flexible, open time-off policy rather than a fixed allotment: "Flexible time off, and you're required to take at least 10 days in addition to holidays" — a mandatory minimum that signals the company genuinely wants people to unplug and recharge. Wellbeing is supported with a "$150 monthly fitness allowance," and the hybrid setup plus work-from-home flexibility give employees real control over their week. (UK-based roles instead carry a defined 25 days holiday plus 8 public holidays.)

Perks and Benefits

Aura backs its team with competitive compensation and a "generous stock option program" (vesting after one year), so employees share in the company's growth. Health coverage is strong — "comprehensive health plans," with the company covering up to 100% of the premium for employees and roughly 50% for families — and retirement is supported by a "401(k) with full match on the first 4%." Add the $150 monthly fitness and wellness allowance, wifi-expense support, and lunch and snacks in the NYC and SF offices, and it's a well-rounded package for a growing consumer-tech company.
