About Assembled
What is Assembled?
Assembled is a support operations platform. Its own pitch: "Great customer support requires human agents and AI in perfect balance, and Assembled is the only unified platform that orchestrates both at scale." The product pairs AI-powered workforce management — forecasting, scheduling, real-time analytics and vendor management — with AI agents that resolve cases end-to-end and an AI Copilot that assists human agents. Companies including Canva, Etsy, Robinhood, Patreon and Babylist use it to coordinate in-house agents, BPOs and AI in a single operating system.
The company sums up its origin as "It started with an observation: scaling support is really hard." Its Stripe alumni co-founders left to build new tools for support, and "Assembled officially launches in March 2020." Postings describe the company as "Backed by $71M from NEA, Emergence Capital, and Stripe."
Where will I work?
Assembled is office-first. Postings state the company is "in-person 5 days a week from our bright, airy offices in the Mission (San Francisco) and Chelsea Market (New York)", and the standard US benefits block lists an "Onsite work model with catered lunches everyday (M-F), snacks, and beverages in our SF & NY offices". A London office hires separately.
A minority of engineering roles are posted US-remote with no office attached. The careers page frames the balance as "We love to see each other in person but we also like options. Remote employees get a one-time credit to improve their home office." Assembled adds that it "proudly sponsor[s] employment visas for candidates who require visa sponsorship to work in the United States."
What is the Assembled team like?
"We're a diversely talented group of people — but if there's one thing you'll never catch us tripping over, it's our egos." Five values steer the culture: "Assembled is my team and title" (working across team lines), "Act like a support agent", "Be the best partner", "Get on the plane" ("we go the extra mile and show up where others wouldn't") and "Make feedback a gift". Engineering work is public — the team publishes on scaling LLMs with Go and on evaluation metrics for support.
Work-Life Balance
Time off is generous but worded inconsistently across live postings. The most common US benefits line reads "Paid company holidays, sick time, and unlimited time off"; several newer postings word the same benefit as "Flexible time off", and the London posting says "we offer flexible PTO and support holistic wellbeing". Paid parental leave appears in every benefits block, US and UK. Set against that, the default working pattern is five days on site, so this is a company that invests in the office rather than in schedule flexibility.
