What is Ascend?
Ascend's homepage calls it "The financial operations platform purpose-built for insurance, combining AI-powered accounting automation, payments, and premium financing in a single vertically integrated solution", and says it is "Trusted by over 4,000 insurance businesses, including over half of the 50 largest brokers". Its postings state the mission as "to become the leading financial automation platform for insurance by 2030". The careers page adds "This work rewards people who think in systems, respect complexity, and are willing to be precise when speed would be easier." On 2026-10-16 its Greenhouse board listed eight roles, all in San Francisco: Solutions Engineer (Contract), Lead Product Manager, Senior Software Engineer, Software Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer, Data Scientist, Product, Brand Designer and Customer Success Manager.
Where will I work?
In the office. All eight postings say "Our team is onsite in San Francisco" and their benefits lists include "Free lunch in office everyday" and "Commuter benefits". The careers page describes no remote or hybrid option, and no posting gives an office-day count.
What is the Ascend team like?
The careers page says "We take the work seriously, and we're intentional about how people are supported while doing it" and "We design our environment to support deep work, clear communication, and long-term growth — not performative hustle." Its principles include "We are all owners" and "Speed with direction is our greatest superpower." Postings for the technical roles describe processing "millions in insurance premiums" and building "the industry's leading point-of-sale system for insurance".
Work-Life Balance
All eight postings list "Unlimited PTO", while the careers page words the policy as "Flexible time off (that we expect you to use!)", so the two pages describe it differently and neither states a minimum. The careers page also lists "14 weeks parental leave for primary caregivers, 8 weeks for secondary", without saying whether the leave is paid. The Solutions Engineer posting is a contract and says "this role does not include benefits during the contract period".
