About Acturis

What is Acturis?

Acturis is the UK's leading Software-as-a-Service provider for general insurance, building the platform that powers commercial and personal-lines broking, insurers, and Managing General Agents. Founded in 2000 by David McDonald and Theo Duchen, the company set out to make "the transaction of insurance as simple and efficient as possible — regardless of market or class." Twenty-five years on, more than 100,000 users across 40+ countries work on Acturis, which processes £18.5 billion in premium transactions annually in the UK alone and maintains 99.9%+ system availability. With 850+ partner organisations and offices in seven countries, Acturis is one of the fastest-growing tech firms in the UK.

Where will I work?

Acturis is hybrid. UK roles are based in its London and Birmingham offices, with international hubs in Dublin (Ireland) and Victoria, Toronto and Montreal (Canada). The standard pattern, stated directly in Acturis job postings, is to "work from home up to 3 days per week," giving most permanent staff regular in-office collaboration alongside meaningful home-working flexibility. Graduate and placement roles lean more on-site, particularly during training.

What is the Acturis team like?

Acturis describes a culture "of creativity, challenge and, of course, fun," built in a "collaborative, supportive and free-thinking environment." The company is explicit that "we don't succeed at the expense of our people," and frames itself as a "start-up-style culture, even as we scale globally." It hires heavily at graduate and placement level, offering mentorship from day one, a transparent career structure, and three annual performance reviews — "a place built for early-career talent to thrive."

Work-Life Balance

Acturis has been certified a Great Place to Work in the UK two years running (most recently February 2026), with 67% of employees rating it a great place to work against a 54% UK average. The hybrid model (up to three home-working days a week), flexible working, and a competitive holiday allowance rising to 30 days underpin a balanced approach, alongside enhanced parental leave for those starting families.

Perks and Benefits

Acturis offers an employee share option scheme, a performance-based annual bonus and salary reviews, a contributory pension, private health cover, life insurance, income protection, and an employee assistance programme. Family and lifestyle benefits include enhanced parental leave, a cycle-to-work scheme, and a generous holiday entitlement, all supported by structured professional development and mentorship.
