Why this position exists
Networks are the nervous system of every IT environment – and our area of expertise. For customers in automotive, clinics, software and the Mittelstand across Baden-Württemberg, we plan and operate network, security and voice infrastructures with a clear vendor focus: Extreme Networks, Fortinet and Unify. As a long-standing partner of these vendors, we have direct access, top terms, and access to first-class training and events. That's why we're looking for you.
Important: We fill this role at the appropriate level – and you do not need to master all three vendor ecosystems. Whether your focus lies in switching and WLAN, firewalls or voice: we tailor the role to your strengths and build the rest together.
Your role – four focus areas (typical split – your actual mix follows your focus)
Implementing network projects (approx. 40%): You plan, configure and document switching, routing and WLAN infrastructures with Extreme Networks – including network segmentation and NAC solutions for demanding environments.
Security (approx. 25%): You implement and operate FortiGate firewalls, SD-WAN and VPN solutions, and further develop security concepts together with our security specialists.
Operations & troubleshooting (approx. 20%): You monitor network infrastructures, handle incident and problem management, systematically trace faults across OSI layers 1–7, and automate recurring tasks.
Voice & UC (approx. 15%): You support and migrate communication solutions based on Unify OpenScape and connect them to modern platforms such as Teams telephony.
What we measure success by together after 12 months
- You carry out network rollouts (switching/WLAN) independently – from planning through to documentation
- You have passed a vendor certification (e.g. Fortinet FCP/NSE or Extreme ECS)
- You have co-owned a segmentation or NAC project
- In troubleshooting, you are a reliable go-to person the team depends on

Must haves
What you bring
- Hands-on experience in network administration (switching, routing, VLANs, firewalls) – whether with Extreme, Fortinet, Cisco, HPE/Aruba or other vendors. 1–2 years is enough; more is welcome
- Confident handling of TCP/IP and a structured approach to fault finding
- A sense of responsibility and a hands-on mindset – networks do not forgive carelessness
- Business-fluent German, good English (vendor documentation), driving licence class B
What we do NOT expect
- A Cisco certification. We work with Extreme, Fortinet and Unify – we build vendor certifications together, at our expense, including training and vendor events
- Experience in all three vendor ecosystems – one is enough. Even with a purely Cisco or Aruba background you are a good fit: networking skills transfer, and we build vendor knowledge together
- Programming skills – you learn automation with us
We are more interested in where you want to go than where you come from. Motivation beats seniority.
