Why this position exists
Schools are digitizing – and they need people who understand technology and like people. You will provide holistic support to schools in your region: from pedagogical networks to Wi-Fi and end devices, all the way to administrative networks. About half of your time will be spent on-site at the schools, while the other half you will work remotely or from the office. Hardly any IT job shows you more directly what you are working for: ensuring that teaching works.
Important: We fill this role according to your level – from a motivated entry-level position with 1–2 years of admin experience to an experienced professional responsible for school IT concepts for entire school authorities. We adapt tasks, goals, and salary to your level.
Your role – four focus areas
Operations & Support (approx. 50%): You will administer pedagogical networks (e.g., paedML, MNSPro) and administrative environments – servers, clients, Wi-Fi, and Mobile Device Management for tablet and notebook classes. You are the familiar face for school management and teaching staff.
Implementing projects (approx. 30%): New equipment, migrations, and Wi-Fi rollouts – school holidays are our project time, during which you take schools to the next level.
Conception & Consulting (approx. 15%): You advise school authorities on sensible solutions and develop – depending on your experience level – infrastructure concepts for individual schools or entire authorities.
Documentation & Standards (approx. 5%): You keep environments well-documented and contribute your ideas to our school IT standards.
How we will measure success together after 12 months
- You manage your own portfolio of schools independently
- You have built up sound paedML know-how (we will teach you this) and applied it in projects
- You have co-managed at least one holiday project (e.g., new equipment or migration)
- For experienced profiles: An infrastructure concept for a school authority bears your signature
The concrete goals behind this will be agreed upon together – depending on your entry level.
Must Haves
What you bring with you
- Practical experience in the administration of Windows and/or Linux environments – 1–2 years is enough, more is welcome
- Solid network fundamentals (IP, VLAN, Wi-Fi)
- Enjoyment in dealing with people who are not IT professionals – patience and a service-oriented mindset included
- Independent working style, because you are our face at the schools
- Business-fluent German, driver's license class B (our fleet is almost entirely electric)
What we do NOT expect
- Prior knowledge of paedML, MNSPro, or other school solutions – we will teach you this
- A pedagogical degree
- Ten years of professional experience
