We Are Seeking
Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for an Information Technology (IT) Data Strategist Intern who is curious, innovative, and driven to turn data into insight. The intern in this position will create reports, write analyses, and build comparisons that show how the Town’s departments connect the data dots throughout the organization. The role involves working closely with the IT Data Strategists to understand how the Town uses data.
The IT Data Strategist Intern will work on a project to build Power BI Dashboards, giving the intern hands-on experience with real municipal data, DAX, and SQL. This project will result in being able to present data in a clear and interactive format.
The intern will work with the Data Governance Team, receiving regular guidance, feedback, and mentorship from experienced staff. The role offers exposure to real municipal data and the opportunity to learn how data governance supports decision-making across Town departments.

- Experience with the Microsoft 365 suite
- Basic understanding of Power BI
- Familiarity with DAX and SQL is preferred but not required

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain data findings in plain terms to non-technical audiences
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and a solutions-oriented attitude
Please note that the intern selected for this position must be enrolled in an accredited college institution as an undergraduate student.
This position is an At-Will position and is FLSA Non-Exempt. This is a part-time position, working up to 20 hours per week, with a work schedule during the hours of Monday - Thursday, 7 am - 6 pm.
This is a semester-long internship for Spring 2027. The anticipated start date for this internship is Tuesday, January 19th, 2027.

The IT Data Strategist Intern is someone who is adept at finding common-sense, well-reasoned approaches to difficult problems and can explain data and its meaning in plain terms to colleagues who may not be familiar with technical language. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, as well as interpersonal savvy.
