What is Welch LLP?
Welch LLP is "a Chartered Public Accounting firm that has deep roots in the communities it serves. Since 1918, Welch has been providing a wide range of accounting, tax and advisory services to private enterprises, government and not-for-profit businesses." George A. Welch founded Welch & Company in 1918 in an office overlooking Confederation Square in Ottawa; by its own account it has since "evolved from a single office to the largest locally owned and operated firm in the Ottawa region", and it "ranks as one of the largest mid-market accounting firms in Canada".
Its work runs "from traditional assurance to expert business advisory", for clients "ranging from start-ups to large, multi-divisional privately-held companies and small cap public companies listed in Canada". Its groups cover assurance and accounting, business advisory, tax, government services, specialty services and professional standards. Welch Capital Partners is "our management consulting firm designed to help entrepreneurs build better businesses", and Elevate is its cloud bookkeeping business in Toronto. A specialized Tech Team works with "high-growth companies in the technology sector", including startups, venture- and PE-backed businesses and small cap public companies reporting under ASPE, IFRS and US GAAP. Welch is a member of BKR International, which gives it "access to extensive resources and professional expertise to help our clients do business around the world".
Where will I work?
Welch has "12 offices across Ontario and Quebec". The head office is at 350 Albert Street in downtown Ottawa, and there is an office on York Street in Toronto. The others are in Belleville, Campbellford, Cornwall, Napanee, Pembroke, Picton, Renfrew, Trenton and Tweed, and in Gatineau, Quebec, as Lévesque Marchand Welch SENCRL. "While we are a hybrid focused company, Welch LLP still offers plenty of ways to connect and enjoy in-office workdays." Ottawa roles expect "in office work minimum 3 days per week"; the Toronto Elevate role is hybrid. The roles listed here are in the Ottawa and Toronto offices, whose postings carry the Summer Friday program. Postings for the regional offices do not mention it.
What is the Welch LLP team like?

Its values are "care, impact, empower", and it describes itself as focused on "creating a diverse and inclusive environment, in our leadership, and supporting our surrounding communities". For students it offers "Extensive CPA support": "We will support you every step of the way as you work to get your CPA." Office life includes "the popular snack cart, paid volunteer days" and "fun seasonal events like our summer picnic and tax party". Through the Welch Community Foundation, the firm pledged $250,000 over five years to The Ottawa Hospital in May 2026, the largest gift in its history.
Work-Life Balance
The Ottawa and Toronto postings offer "flexibility of work-life balance to enjoy family and personal interests with our Summer Friday program, 4 weeks of vacation and winter holiday closure." An Ottawa posting on Welch's own site spells out the summer part as an office closure: "Welch LLP prioritizes work-life balance, promoting 3 weeks of vacation, summer Friday office closure, and full two weeks Christmas closure." Welch does not publish which summer months the Fridays cover, or its weekly hours. The work is client service with reporting deadlines.
