What is WeBuyVintage?
WeBuyVintage is a UK buyer of jewellery, antiques and collectables that does its business face to face. Its own careers site describes it as "one of the UK's largest buyers of jewellery, antiques and collectibles", running "more roadshows than any other UK company - over 250 valuation events every month - bringing trusted experts face-to-face with customers across the country". Sellers can meet a valuer at a roadshow in a village hall or community centre, book a home visit, or come into the Leeds store; offers are made on the spot with no obligation, and accepted items are paid for and collected the same day. The positioning is deliberate: "In a world of online marketplaces and sell by post solutions, WeBuyVintage exists to bring the human element back into selling." Founder and CEO Andrew Wood puts it this way: "In an era where everything is moving online and becoming increasingly impersonal, our growth proves a simple truth: people still value honesty, integrity, and a handshake." Where will I work?
The head office and store is at 525 York Road, Leeds. The company also recruits into Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds, Darlington and the North East, and calls itself "a Nationwide company". Patterns vary by role and are stated on each advert: office roles are hybrid, typically two to three days a week in Cambridge or Darlington, while buyer and brand-advocate roles are fully remote and field-based, attending three to four roadshow events a week within about a 90-minute drive of home, with mileage paid at the government rate.
What is the WeBuyVintage team like?
Around 80 people across buying, home visits, events, logistics, marketing, operations, finance, product and people teams, led by a founder-CEO alongside an operations director, a head buyer and heads of marketing, finance and business development. Work-Life Balance
Every live advert on the company's board opens its benefits list with a "4-day working week", and most specify Monday to Thursday; the customer phone line is staffed to match, "Monday to Thursday, 10am-5pm". The careers site is blunter still: "4 day working week (we really mean it)!" WeBuyVintage does not publish weekly hours, a pay basis for the shortened week, or a holiday allowance.
