Where will I work?
The careers site listed 311 adverts on 2026-10-20, 89 of them regular staff or A/P ones, and this page lists the 70 with a white-collar title. Titles include "Fiscal Technician Senior", "Senior Auditor", "Director of Title IX Compliance/Title IX Coordinator", "Payroll Accountant" and "Academic Advisor", and an advert states its pay, such as "$51,000 - $55,000" for the Fiscal Technician Senior (Pay Band 3) or "Salary range of $75,000 - $85,000" for the Senior Auditor. Most are in Blacksburg; others are in Roanoke, Hampton, Yorktown, Harrisonburg and the Washington, D.C. area, and six are marked Hybrid. The facts page lists "a significant presence across the commonwealth, including the Institute for Advanced Computing in Northern Virginia, the Health Sciences and Technology Campus in Roanoke, and sites in Newport News and Richmond".
What is the Virginia Tech team like?
The Flexible Work Options page says "Flexible work options are alternatives to the traditional "8-to-5" workday, the standard workweek, or the traditional workplace", and lists telework and alternative work schedules, which a supervisor and employee agree. Work-Life Balance

The policy on holidays lists New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the Friday after Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, and says "the four days comprising winter break are treated as holidays": 13 weekdays in 2026, the closure running from Friday 25 to Thursday 31 December.
