About UpGuard
What is UpGuard?
UpGuard is a cybersecurity company on a mission "to protect the world's data." Founded in 2012, it builds an "AI-powered platform for Cyber Risk Posture Management (CRPM)" that gives security teams "a centralized, actionable view of cyber risk across an organization's vendors, attack surface, and workforce." In practice, that means helping companies monitor third-party and vendor risk, watch their own external attack surface, and assess the security of their infrastructure — automating work that "was once laborious, spreadsheet-driven processes." Fresh off a US$75M Series C, UpGuard says its platform now processes "100 billion risk signals daily," and its software is used by "some of the world's largest, fastest growing and most innovative companies."
Where will I work?
UpGuard operates a "fully remote working environment." As its job ads put it: "While we have physical offices in Sydney & Hobart, we do not mandate compulsory attendance." Its head offices span Mountain View (California), Sydney and Hobart, with a globally distributed team, so you can work from home with the option of an office when you want one. New hires also get a WFH set-up allowance: "we will help you get set up within your first 3 months at UpGuard."
What is the UpGuard team like?
UpGuard runs on five values: "Care about our team," "Be excellent to each other," "Pride in what we do," "Don't #!&$ the customer," and "Do the impossible." Engineers describe "a strong engineering culture focused on learning, impact, and craftsmanship," with "regular team off-sites, collaborative professional development, and a no-ego culture." The product team works on a modern stack — "React, Go, and Kubernetes, on Google Cloud Platform" — and the company has leaned hard into AI, providing every team member with paid generative-AI tools. UpGuard is a Certified Great Place to Work in the US, Australia, the UK and India, and reports that "99% of team members agree that UpGuard is a great place to work."
Work-Life Balance
UpGuard backs flexibility with concrete time off. Everyone gets "PTO plus two additional UpGuardian leave days to give you time to recharge your batteries," plus a "Personal Leave Allowance" covering "sick & carer's leave." New parents receive "18 weeks paid Parental Leave," explicitly "irrespective of parenting role." Combined with the fully remote, no-mandated-attendance setup, the emphasis is on autonomy over hours-at-a-desk.
Perks and Benefits
UpGuard offers a "Monthly Lifestyle subsidy" to spend on "financial, physical, and mental well-being," and a "$1500 USD annual Learning & Development allowance" for career development. Every team member gets "top-spec laptops" and a "Generative AI subsidy" of paid AI-tool subscriptions. There's a WFH set-up allowance for your home office, and US employees receive "health, dental, and vision insurance."
