The University of Salford says "We have answered the needs of industry since 1896, when we began as the Salford Royal Technical Institute" and that it has "now been a leading university for over 50 years". Its working-for-us page says it is "one of the fastest growing universities in the country" and proud "to have more partnerships with SMEs than any other Greater Manchester university", naming partners such as Siemens, NHS Trusts and The Lowry. It offers "a wide variety of rewarding careers across a range of academic, technical and professional services roles", from its schools of Arts, Media and Creative Technology, Health and Society, Salford Business School and Science, Engineering and Environment to its Professional Services.

Of the ten roles on its recruitment site on 2026-10-09, three of the four postings read are marked Hybrid, and the board also lists technician and plumber roles.
