About University of Lincoln

What is the University of Lincoln?

The University of Lincoln is a university in Lincolnshire. Its About page says it was established in 1996, that its first building was opened by Queen Elizabeth II that year, and that it has grown "from around 500 students in 1996, to over 15,000 students today". Its subjects sit in two academic Colleges, Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities and Health and Science, and it says it was awarded Gold in the 2023 Teaching Excellence Framework and the Queen's Anniversary Prize in November 2023. Its main Brayford Pool Campus is in the city of Lincoln, with a Holbeach Campus in the south of the county and a Riseholme Estate campus just outside the city.

Where will I work?

Roles sit at the Brayford Pool Campus, at Riseholme, or, for a Knowledge Transfer Partnership associate, at a partner company: the KTP post open on 2026-10-18 is "based primarily at Eminox Ltd in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire". The Estates page says Lawress Hall at Riseholme Park "is the normal place of work for staff from most Professional Services departments" and that it supports "hybrid working whereby the majority of staff are able to work from home and from different on-campus locations, depending on their role, circumstances and business needs". One posting, an OfS Project Finance and Compliance Coordinator, describes "a hybrid home and campus based working pattern" on 25 hours a week across 3, 4 or 5 days. A staff shuttle bus runs between Brayford Campus and Riseholme Park, where the gym and swimming pool have been recommissioned.

What is the Lincoln team like?

The University says it promotes "an open culture", encouraging two-way conversations about mental health, and that colleagues have "access to mental health first aiders for instant help and guidance". Its Benefits page describes a community of staff groups and activities "including leisure, environmental, volunteering, and social activities", and says "Education is at the core of our provision, and we encourage our colleagues to develop and grow". Colleagues get personalised certificates when they finish a University programme and eRecognition cards to send each other. Four roles were open to external applicants on 2026-10-18: an OfS Project Finance and Compliance Coordinator, a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Bio-Foam, an Academic Skills Advisor (Maths and Stats) and the KTP Associate.

Work-Life Balance

The Benefits and Wellbeing page lists "a minimum of 30 days annual leave plus 14 concessionary days", and the Annual Leave page says "We offer a generous annual leave entitlement that is offered in addition to 14 bank holidays and concessionary days". Leave runs from 30 to 35 days depending on role, which is at least 44 days a year with those 14 days. Part-time and fixed-term staff are pro rata. The same page lists "generous sick pay from day one of employment" and "supportive leave approaches for parents and carers", and the postings show part-time patterns, such as 14 hours a week on a permanent Academic Skills Advisor post.

Perks and Benefits

Benefits include "a variety of pension and saving options depending on your role at the University", annual increases up a salary scale, and "discounted lifestyle support for wellbeing, holidays, and day-to-day purchases". The University provides "a 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme, including specialist phone line support, interactive online sessions, and an app to monitor your own wellbeing at home", and on-site heart health checks and flu vaccinations. Staff can use the on-campus sports centre, and the KTP post carries a dedicated personal development and training budget with Innovate UK leadership development.
