What is Toronto Metropolitan University?
Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU, formerly Ryerson University) is a public research university in the heart of downtown Toronto, Ontario. Founded in 1948, it is one of Canada's largest and most applied-focused universities, known for its programs in business, engineering, media, design and the social sciences.
Where will I work?
TMU staff work from the University's downtown Toronto campus. Compressed and flexible work arrangements are available to staff subject to operational needs and manager approval.
What is the team like?
Around 5,000 faculty and staff across academic departments, research, libraries, IT, finance, facilities, student services and administration.
Work-Life Balance
TMU's Hours of Work policy provides for a genuine compressed work week: "…it may also be possible to meet the preference of some staff members to work a compressed work week, working full time hours of 36.25 per week in reduced number of (ie. less than 5) days." The policy gives a four-day example — "a four day work week could involve three days of 9 hours and 50 minutes, and one day of 9 hours and 45 minutes."
