About Toast
What is Toast?
Toast is building the restaurant platform that helps restaurants adapt, take control, and get back to what they do best: running the businesses they love. Through a cloud-based, all-in-one platform spanning point of sale, payments, operations, digital ordering and delivery, marketing, payroll and team management, Toast creates technology to help restaurants and local businesses succeed in a digital world, powering owners to operate, increase sales, engage customers, and keep employees happy. The company describes its purpose simply: "We empower the restaurant community to delight their guests, do what they love, and thrive." Now a leading hospitality software company in the U.S., Toast pairs deep industry roots with engineering scale — roughly two-thirds of its employees have worked in the restaurant industry themselves.
Where will I work?
Toast is headquartered at 333 Summer St in the heart of Boston's Seaport District, with offices across New York City, Omaha, San Francisco, Toronto, London, Dublin, Lublin, Bangalore, Chennai and Taipei. The company runs a hybrid model: "We embrace a hybrid work model that fosters in-person collaboration while valuing individual needs." In practice, if your zip code is within 25 miles of a Toast office you'll be expected in the office twice a week, and within 25–50 miles, twice a month — with fully remote roles also posted across engineering, product and go-to-market teams.
What is the Toast team like?
The team — known internally as "Toasters," now more than 5,000 globally — is guided by a clear set of values: "We're all in customer success," "We embrace an ownership mindset," "We're one team," "We're driven by purpose and impact," "We lead with humility," "We're hungry to build and learn," and "We raise the bar." Diversity is, in Toast's words, "baked into our recipe for success," and the company invests heavily in internal mobility, filling roughly 20% of open roles from within.
Work-Life Balance
Toast supports balance through a flexible PTO policy and — distinctively — a paid sabbatical after five years of tenure. Family life is well covered, with parental leave, extended maternity leave and adoption leave, plus inclusive family-forming guidance. Recognition of its culture is external as well as internal: Toast is Great Place to Work Certified (2025) and a Built In Best Places to Work honoree, and was named to the 2025 PEOPLE Companies that Care list.
Perks and Benefits
Toast's total rewards package "goes beyond great earnings potential and provides the means to a healthy lifestyle with the flexibility to meet Toasters' changing needs." Compensation includes equity and eligible bonus/commission alongside base pay. Wellbeing benefits are free and include therapy and coaching, financial education, and family-forming support, plus wellness stipends. The company also reimburses professional development, helping Toasters keep building and learning as the platform grows.
