What We Do
Two products power thredUP: a consumer-facing managed marketplace that makes it easy to clean out closets and shop premium and luxury brands at up to 90% off estimated retail; and Resale-as-a-Service (RaaS) — a B2B platform that leading brands and retailers use to deliver customisable, scalable resale experiences to their own customers. The proprietary operating platform combines distributed processing infrastructure, in-house software, and data-science expertise — currently powered by an actively-hiring engineering organisation building AI/ML for personalisation, multimodal embeddings, retrieval & ranking models, and A/B testing infrastructure.
Where Will I Work?
thredUP runs a hybrid model across its US footprint: HQ in Oakland, CA (a historic-building space in one of the city's most vibrant neighbourhoods) plus a satellite office in Scottsdale, AZ (~8,000 sq. ft. for designers, analysts and engineers). Operations run from four large distribution centers: Mechanicsburg, PA (the original automated DC), Phoenix, AZ (100K+ items received daily, processing more than one item every second), Suwanee, GA (proprietary-tech pilot facility), and Lancaster, TX (the newest and largest, home to over 10 million items). Engineering and data-science roles are also hired remote in Mexico.
