About Technergetics
What is Technergetics?
Technergetics is a veteran-powered, mission-driven small business specializing in applied research, advanced software and hardware, and quantum technologies. Founded in 2013 in Utica, New York, the company partners with U.S. government agencies and the Department of Defense to turn cutting-edge science into deployable capability. Its stated mission is "to empower the modern warfighter by envisioning, creating, and delivering state of the art capabilities." Day to day, Technergetics teams work across mobile and web applications, quantum computing, machine learning and artificial intelligence, and AI-enabled edge devices — spanning product lines and research efforts in business intelligence, logistics, an "AI Factory," and quantum information science. The company is built on three tenets: Domain Expertise, Research Ingenuity and Implementation Acumen.
Where will I work?
Technergetics is a US-based company headquartered at 114 Genesee St. in Utica, NY, "with employees and clients located throughout the country." Many roles are fully remote and open to candidates from across the United States, while research and engineering positions tied to defense facilities are on-site in Rome, NY — performed at the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) and the Innovare Advancement Center on the Rome Griffiss Institute campus. Because much of the work involves classified programs, most positions are restricted to U.S. citizens, and some roles require travel to Washington, DC and partner sites.
What is the Technergetics team like?
The team is anchored by U.S. military veterans who "combine operational insight with technical innovation," working alongside physicists, mathematicians, computer scientists and systems engineers. It's a small-business, industrial R&D environment where researchers tackle real DoD mission challenges — from fault-tolerant quantum computing to secure edge networking — and are encouraged to publish and present at leading conferences, subject to sponsor approval. Interns and SkillBridge participants are a genuine pipeline: "Many of our previous SkillBridge interns are now full-time employees."
Work-Life Balance
Technergetics advertises "flexible daily start and stop times for most projects and positions," giving employees latitude over their working day. Time off includes "generous Paid Time Off (including a PTO 'gift day' for your birthday)" plus "11 Federal Holidays per year" and "three weeks paid maternity/paternity leave."
Perks and Benefits
The benefits package "includes health, life, disability, dental, and vision insurance coverage and a 401(k) policy with a 3% company contribution & 3% company match." Additional perks include "referral bonuses, professional recognition awards, healthcare stipends, tuition/education reimbursement (once specific requirements are met)," and "annual technology 'allowances'." Most projects and positions also offer "flexible daily start and stop times."
